December Services

December 3rd Service, 10:30 AM
"The Real War on Christmas" - Rick Johnson
It's already ramping up... the shrill voices telling us that we are trying to strip Jesus from Christmas with our "Happy Holidays" messages rather than "Merry Christmas". The War on Christmas is a conservative construct designed to mobilize Christians politically during what should be one of their most holy of seasons. But the War on Christmas was fought many years ago, and materialism won. In this morning's service Rick Johnson will speak about how materialism and profit have robbed the holiday of almost any spiritual meaning, and how conservative agitprop threatens to deliver the coup de grâce.  Children's religious education will be provided.

December 10th Service, 10:30 AM
"Income Inequality" - Sally Hartman
Sally Hartman will present a program on income inequality this morning. Fellow Unitarian Universalist Chuck Collins inspires us to examine the debilitating effects of income inequality. The causes and impact can be understood through stories of those who struggle in today’s unbalanced economy. Can we reverse the downward spiral of income inequality? Children's RE will be provided. Please come join us for this interesting program.

December 17th Service, 10:30 AM
"Yule Traditions" - Paula Johnson
The Vision Wheel group will offer a program focusing on Yule ritual traditions and their expression on modern Pagan celebrations.  Paula Johnson will lead the program with help from other members of Vision Wheel.

December 24th Service, 10:30 AM
"Christmas Eve Music"
Our Christmas Eve service will be a celebration of the music of the season, with the congregation singing a selection of hymns and carols.  There will be a story time for children of all ages read by someone who, I hear, looks a lot like Santa himself.  Come join in our celebration of the Christmas season today.
